Winterfest Contest History

History

The Winterfest began in the fall of 1972, followed by Sprachfest in 1976 and Houstonfest in 1980. As a culmination of the organization of area or regional contests, the Texas State German Contest was first held in the Spring of 1982 at Crockett High School in Austin.

The Steering Committee for Winterfest contest meets annually to evaluate recommendations for changes that affect both the regional and the state level contests.

  • Judges breakfast begins at 8:00 am
  • Judges meeting at 9:00 am
